When Steve Kristal’s daughter, Hayden Kristal, made the heartwarming decision to bring home a 5-week-old deaf and blind puppy named Bitsy, the family was enveloped in a whirlwind of uncertainty and questions. Steve found himself pondering the challenges Bitsy would face in navigating her new environment and what her overall quality of life would be. These concerns were natural given the puppy’s disabilities. However, little did they know that Bitsy’s arrival would not only address these worries but also bring an abundance of joy and inspiration to their lives.

“She has been her own woman since day one,” Hayden recalled. Bitsy’s first act of independence was finding her food bowl. Without any hesitation, she climbed into it and ate until she fell asleep, a testament to her resilient and adaptable nature. This tiny, determined puppy showed everyone that she was ready to embrace life with gusto.

Bitsy’s disabilities hardly slowed her down. Her enthusiasm for life was contagious, and she quickly became a beloved member of the Kristal family. Hayden and Bitsy embarked on countless adventures together, exploring the U.S. and engaging in activities like biking, canoeing, skateboarding, and even taking rides on the subway. Bitsy’s zest for life and her ability to adapt to new experiences were truly inspiring.

“Bitsy is the sweetest, friendliest, most loving, and loyal dog in the world,” Hayden proudly said. “She is bold, sassy, and loves adventure!” Bitsy’s fearless spirit and love for adventure were evident in everything she did.

One person who fell particularly hard for Bitsy was her granddad, Steve. Steve’s affection for Bitsy knew no bounds. According to Hayden, Steve was Bitsy’s “number one fan and biggest champion.” He would talk about her to anyone who would listen, always eager to share stories about his extraordinary granddog. Steve took immense joy in spoiling Bitsy with treats and toys, ensuring she felt loved and cherished.

Bitsy, in turn, adored her granddad. Their bond was incredibly special, and Bitsy loved being close to Steve. However, the pandemic brought an unexpected challenge: a long separation. Bitsy and Hayden were unable to visit Steve for an entire year, and Steve worried that Bitsy might not remember him after such a long time apart.

Despite his fears, the reunion between Bitsy and Steve was nothing short of magical. When Bitsy finally saw her granddad after a year apart, her reaction was pure joy. She leapt onto Steve with unbridled excitement, wagging her tail furiously and covering him with kisses. Bitsy wouldn’t stop jumping on him, barking happily, and expressing her sheer delight. She even did a little happy dance, running around in circles and celebrating with another dog that was present.

For Steve, this reunion was a powerful reminder of Bitsy’s remarkable abilities. “This was just another example of how Bitsy’s abilities are far more impressive than the ones she’s missing,” Steve said. Bitsy’s spirit and her ability to connect deeply with her loved ones, despite her disabilities, were truly extraordinary.

Doctor Left Her Dog In a Storage Bin
Doctor Left Her Dog In a Storage Bin

A children's doctor had been evicted and had left items behind when she left. Among them was something alarming: a plastic storage bin, where a dog had been locked inside. If someone is this cruel to a small, defenseless dog, how can they continue to treat children as a doctor?

Steve often says that Bitsy has a special soul. Their bond is a testament to the deep love and understanding they share. This heartwarming reunion was captured on video, and the footage quickly went viral, touching the hearts of people all over the internet. The video showcased the profound connection between Bitsy and her granddad, a bond that remained unbroken despite a year of separation.

Bitsy’s story is a beautiful reminder of the power of love and resilience. Despite her disabilities, Bitsy lives a full and adventurous life, surrounded by a family that adores her. Her reunion with Steve after a long separation is a testament to the unbreakable bond they share and the incredible spirit of a dog who refuses to be defined by her limitations.
