The Houston-based rescue group Street Life To Sweet Life tried to round up as many stray dogs as possible when they were due for a deep freeze. They saw Boomer among a pack in a parking lot. But the pup was too afraid to come near the rescuers.

Samantha Zimmer tells Boomer’s rescue story in the video, and it’s one for the books! The stray wanted to come inside the humane trap to get to the food, but he was understandably leery. When Boomer saw one of the other dogs enter the trap and the door slam shut, he took off.
Thankfully the next day, a friend of Samantha’s went back to save Boomer. This time he entered the trap, and his capture was successful. Samantha brought Boomer home to foster him because no one else wanted to, but he was too afraid to come inside. It was freezing out on the porch. Samantha was deeply concerned.

It was as if Boomer “was conditioned to never come inside.” He placed his paws on the threshold while Samantha knelt down to coax him in. It was as if he understood where he belonged, but he couldn’t bring himself to break through that “forcefield.”
Does the poor pup finally find the confidence to step inside? To find out, check out Boomer’s story. He is still available for adoption, click here to learn more!
