Our canine companions can be extremely comforting and also the source of copious comedic entertainment. But they can get into their fair share of mischief, as well. Sometimes, as in the case of Bulldogs Sophia and Oliver, the two go hand in hand.
The pair of pups decided to have a puppy party while their parents weren’t around, and that resulted in some damage. So they decided to “play dead” to procrastinate or even prevent their punishment.
Sophia and Oliver are absolutely adorable. And they tried to use that to their advantage after they broke a basket and chewed the furniture while their parents weren’t around. Then, when they were asked if it was them who did the damage in the living room, they decided to both flop on their backs and “play dead.”
But it wasn’t only their mom and dad who thought this was incredibly funny.
Their parents recorded the dogs’ hilarious reaction to being confronted about their actions and then posted the video to their Facebook page. As you may have guessed, the video almost instantly went viral, and over 3.5 million people across the internet found it both amusing and adorable.
As the video begins, you can see Sophia’s white, speckled belly as she’s lying on her back. Her mom asks her, “who did this” as she pans over to a broken basket. She laughs in the background as she then pans over to her brother, Oliver, who is also “playing dead.”
It’s extremely believable that Oliver has actually died. His mouth is hanging open, and he doesn’t move a muscle.
She calls his name multiple times, and even asks them again, “who did this?” You can’t help but laugh as there is minimal movement and almost zero response from the extremely guilty dogs.
Clearly, the pair of pups had communicated their perfect plan to each other before their parents entered the room. They both continue to play dead and completely commit to the act. Their mom even nudges Oliver with her foot, and he still doesn’t crack.
But mom knows exactly how to make them move. She does what she believes is guaranteed to get a response and asks them if they want a “snack.” Almost immediately, Sophia stands-up. Then, slowly but surely, Oliver gives in as well.
Then, their mom resumes asking them about the mess, and Oliver lays right back down and resumes acting as if he has died. Then, as her mom approaches, Sophia lies back down on her back, as well.
