In Springfield Tennessee, a good samaritan was caught on video bravely charging into a burning house to save a dog.
A fire broke out in the house of April and Brandon Gourley. The couple was away celebrating their anniversary, and their children weren’t home either. The only ones left in the house at that moment was the family’s dog, Sampson, and their three cats. The neighbors quickly called 911.
But suddenly a stranger appeared out of nowhere, got out of his car, and entered the burning home to save the dog. One of the bystanders even called him “idiot”–possibly thinking that what the stranger did was a stupid move.
After about a minute, the man comes out of the burning home, carrying the dog in his arms. It turns out that this good samaritan is actually an off-duty firefighter named Tim Tawater.

After a couple of seconds that Tim got out with the dog, the roof gave in.
Two of the family’s cats were found unharmed, hiding under a mattress at a back bedroom in the house. The third cat however, has not been found yet.
The family got to thank Tim Tawater for saving their dog. He is indeed a hero!
