Greater Good Charities’ GOODS Program donates food and other essential supplies to animal shelters and rescues. Thanks to these incredible donations, many dogs are given a second chance at life, including the pups at Doggie Harmony in Decatur, Georgia.

Doggie Harmony is a non-profit rescue that cares for lots of dogs and helps them find forever homes. One of the many dogs they’ve saved is a 15-year-old MinPin named Angel. Angel is mostly blind and suffers from several health issues because of her age, so she needs specialized care.

Angel arrived at Doggie Harmony because she was living in a car with her human. Even though her human loved her very much, they feared for her health as it got colder outside. Eventually, they chose to surrender her because they thought it was best for her.

At the rescue, Angel received special food for her needs. She was placed on a diet to specifically help her kidneys, and it was soft food since she didn’t have many teeth left. Thanks to the rescue’s help, she was feeling better than ever physically.

The GOODS Program Helps Angel

Doggie Harmony gets specialized food for the dogs in its care through the GOODS Program. By receiving healthy food donations, the rescue no longer has to worry about spending funds on food, allowing them to focus on other areas of care like medical needs instead.

“We are so grateful to the GOODS Program here in the great big state of Georgia. Beyond helping us subsidize the cost of food for our own intakes, we’re able to provide outreach to the community,” Doggie Harmony wrote. “We help income-challenged families feed their pets and access supplies like crates, beds, and gates to hopefully make their home life more comfortable.”
