If you are not familiar with Doug the Pug, you are missing out! With over 18 million followers across his social media accounts, Doug is one of the most important (and squishiest) influencers online today.

Now Doug is using his status to help children fighting cancer. Leslie Mosier, the human voice behind the canine phenomenon, announced the creation of the Doug the Pug Foundation on Giving Tuesday.

According to the 501(c)(3)’s website, the charity “will work to bring joy and needed support outside of treatment to children and their families battling cancer and other life threatening illnesses.”

Mosier and Doug have visited sick children in the hospital in an effort to pay forward some of their own good fortune. Last year Doug dressed as Santa for their Christmas visit to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Mosier and Doug found their passion bringing joy to children undergoing life-saving therapies. They want to help these kids and their families celebrate the joys of childhood and alleviate financial burdens outside of treatment. They also hope to use the foundation to help pay for therapy dogs for children in need.

“Families and children in treatment for cancer or a life-threatening illness have needs outside of medical support to maintain families, bring joy, and support for the battle they are on,” Mosier said.

From his very first hospital visit, it was clear that Doug had found his calling. He has a knack for identifying the children and family members who need him most, offering snuggles, snorts, and plenty of pug kisses for all. Mosier and Doug cannot help but bond with each and every patient, parent, and staff member they meet.

As you may know, cancer treatment can be absolutely devastating financially as well as emotionally. The Doug the Pug Foundation will help lighten the load by assessing where the greatest needs lie and making sure funds are allocated directly for those purposes.

The Doug the Pug Foundation is live and accepting donations. They have partnered with experienced organizations like St. Jude to help ensure your contributions make the greatest impact.
