Firefighters Spring Into Action When A Dog Is Found Locked In A Hot Car

| Published on July 9, 2015

It’s summertime! And I’m sure a lot of you love to take your dogs with you for a vacation. Some of you would probably let your dogs tag along with you when you go for a road trip. But please, let’s all be responsible owners and not leave our dogs in the car, especially when the weather is warm.

The Sacramento Fire Department just rescued a dog who was inside a locked car on a hot day. A kind stranger called them up, and when they got to the scene, they found the dog in the locked car with no water, and all the windows were rolled up. When they measured the temperature of the car, it was over 90 degrees! They had to get the poor dog out of the car. Watch the rescue video below!

The crew from Sacramento Fire Department Engine 4 removed a dog from a locked car this morning. Sacramento Animal Control took the dog to a shelter, and the owner will be cited. Please remember: Don’t leave your dog in a car on a hot day. Besides the obvious negative effect on the dog, fines can be up to $500. In a worst case scenario, the charge would be felony animal cruelty, which carries a stiff penalty. Please take your dogs with you when you lock up, or leave them at home.
