When you buy products from the iHeartDogs store, part of that profit goes to Greater Good Charities, an organization that helps lots of animals in need. Greater Good Charities’ GOODS Program donates food and other necessary supplies to animal shelters and rescues. These donations can save the lives of many rescue dogs, including an ill puppy named Marcus who had a rough start to life.

At only 8 weeks old, Marcus was dumped in a crate. He was in critical condition, weighing about half of what he should. He also had several abscesses in his mouth, so he struggled to eat. Sadly, he also had sores all over his body that indicated he probably lived in the crate for his entire life.

Even though things weren’t looking good for Marcus, Free to Live Animal Sanctuary in Guthrie, Oklahoma, took a chance on him. The organization gave him antibiotics and put him on a specialized diet to help him gain weight. Once he was in good condition, they used x-rays to determine the severity of his injuries. Unfortunately, he had three broken bones (both cheekbones and his back left leg) that had healed weird because no one had taken him to the vet.

Free to Live Animal Sanctuary nursed Marcus back to health. It was a slow process, but with enough love and care, he started feeling better than ever.

Now, Marcus is healthy. He doubled his weight and is now able to comfortably eat all types of dog food. Since he’s no longer in pain, he happily plays with toys and lets his loving personality shine through. Free to Live is confident that he’ll be able to find a forever home soon.

Free to Live is able to help dogs like Marcus because they receive food donations from the GOODS Program. With those donations, they can focus their funds on other areas of care, such as medical needs, allowing them to properly care for more dogs than usual.

“Food has gone up significantly in price and affordable food from the GOODS Program allows us to invest in medical care that so many of our animals require upon arrival,” Free to Live wrote.

Every time you shop at the iHeartDogs store, you’re helping dogs like Marcus get the care they require. In many cases, donations from the GOODS Program give dogs a second chance at life. Thank you to everyone who has purchased products to help dogs in need. You’re heroes!
