Pita, the neighbor’s friendly dog, has an open invitation to visit anytime she wants to play with the couple’s dog, Fia. Their owners have arranged this unique setup, allowing Pita to knock on the door whenever she feels like spending time with her playmate. Their activities range from fetch and tug of war to simply lounging around, often capped off with a few treats before Pita is walked back to her home. Whenever Pita leaves, Fia stays by the window, a little sad, watching her friend go, almost as if she’s been ousted from a fun party. “She’ll be back,” her owners reassure her, as Pita has become a staple in their weekly routine.

Even on days when Pita’s human friends aren’t available, she might sneak into the yard, enjoy a solitary roll on the grass, and then head back to where her dad is waiting. Pita’s routine includes waiting patiently by the door to be let in for playdates with Fia. At times, she’s already inside, surprising everyone with her presence. The sheer happiness that Pita brings into their lives is undeniable.

When the family first moved into the neighborhood, there was a sense of nervousness about starting anew, which meant that Fia had to leave all her doggy friends behind. One of the brightest spots in this transition was Pita, who was there to greet them from day one, making the new place feel like home.

The couple’s relationship with Pita’s owners has grown, too, sharing food and friendship, strengthening the bond between the neighbors. Pita’s mom has become a good friend, and Pita herself has played a pivotal role in uniting the neighborhood, creating cherished memories for everyone.
