Sweet little Knox is an innocent puppy with lots of love to give, but his life has been far from the pampering he deserves. For the first few weeks of his life, he lived with a family who could barely provide for themselves, let alone care for a dog.
Due to lack of nutrition and poor living conditions, Knox suffered from mange and fleas. Eventually, his family made the difficult decision to give him up since they couldn’t provide him with the care he deserved. They surrendered him to Happy Feet Pet Rescue of Perry, MI, where animal rescuers treated his skin conditions.
It seemed like Knox’s life was about to turn around, but then, the poor puppy was diagnosed with a grade 6 heart murmur and dilated cardiomyopathy, one of the most common causes of heart failure in dogs.
Knox’s Road to Recovery
Without proper medical care, Knox is unlikely to make it to his first birthday. Yet, his rescuers are determined to give him the best chance possible.
The rescue scheduled a surgery for Knox. However, a serious surgery like this could cost the shelter as much as $3,800, which is something the organization cannot afford without the support of dog lovers.
