HELP! Twice Returned Dog Is Just Waiting To Find Her Happily Ever After

When a dog gets adopted, rescuers rejoice – after all, that dog finally has her happily ever after, right? But in the case of poor Sasha, that was not to be.

Sasha, a four-year-old petite pitty, waited for two years at the Second Chance NYC Dogs rescue to find a family. When she did, the rescue was confident it was the perfect fit.

Then a nightmare happened: the woman who adopted her became a hoarder. According to a post Cecelia Blake, adoption coordinator for Second Chance put on Facebook, Sasha was removed from a home of 70 animals – her owner was charged with 21 counts of animal neglect. They found Sasha tied to a door in a room, feces and urine were all over the premises.

She is now back to the safety of the rescue, but she dreams of a real home. A home that will be patient and kind and above all, be patient and love her.

She was adopted again, but because her adopters did not follow the instructions for properly introducing her to men (her one fear). So, after just four days, they brought her back.

This is a woman that Sasha JUST MET. Blake said the woman was scared of dogs. Sasha barked at her once, but after she sat down, Sasha quickly overcame her anxiety and loved up on her. Image source: Cecelia Blake

Still she waits for a home of her own. Just look at the smile and those soft eyes!

  • She wants to be loved, but is also afraid so she takes a bit to warm up
  • She has lived with cats and other dogs, but a slow intro is recommended.
  • She loves kids
  • She prefers women, but can get to trust men if done properly!

“I know this because I watched her go from trusting no one to women, to feeling safe enough to take treats from me just by having the men sit in a chair and ignore her with treat in hand,” explains Blake.

  • She does not do well with people rushing at her or men reaching over her head
  • She has never bitten anyone, but she does growl when scared to let you know she is stressed and needs you to back off.
  • She loves food
  • She is easy to bond with if you let her come to you!
  • She loves to run! She would love a jogging partner

In other words, if you don’t mind just a little work, Sasha is a wonderfully, loving pitty that could be your dream jogging partner if given the chance. As Blake puts it: “The world is a mystery to Sasha. She just needs to gain her balance and then she can revolve with it.”
