Two rescuers from an organization called Cats of San Bernardino were heading into Starbucks when they saw a dog tied up to a tree. Someone had cruelly left her there and used a sweatshirt to tie her up. The dog had a microchip with a phone number, so one volunteer, Jaina, called to see if she could get an explanation as to what the dog was doing there. A man picked up, and Jaina said: “We found your dog.” Jaina was furious that someone could do this to their pet but gave him the benefit of the doubt. The owner explained that he had to move and his new place didn’t allow dogs.

He said that he gave the pup to ‘somebody else’ who didn’t want the responsibilities that came with dog ownership. So, did they abandon the dog, or did he pick her up and leave her there? It was totally unclear. Jaina explained to the owner that she was currently with his dog, and she was abandoned in front of a Starbucks. While trying to get to the bottom of this odd tale, a kind stranger approached the rescuers with a pup cup.

The dog was so excited! Even though her day had been horrible, the treat was a reminder that many people still care. As the dog enjoyed her treat and Ivy, another volunteer, gave the dog some love, Jaina asked the owner over the phone if he wanted her back. He casually said no, as if he never had an attachment to her.

The rescuers were relieved. If he did want the dog back, she may end up in the same situation again. They knew they could give her a better life. Ironically, the rescue group doesn’t rescue many dogs (their name pretty much gives that away), but when Ivy and Jaina brought some kittens to the vet, they decided to grab some Starbucks as they waited. That is when they found her. It was surely fate!

The rescuers had to find the dog a foster home straight away because they were leaving to go to New York that same night. Thankfully, one of the adopters who works with the organization volunteered to take the dog for five days while Ivy and Jaina were gone. When they returned, they picked up the pooch, who is now named Betty Davis, and took her to the vet. She was cleared to be put up for adoption.

Diabetic Senior Was Abandoned With Her Deceased Sibling

Merida is a senior who was found abandoned in a backyard with her sibling who had passed away. She was left to fend for herself as an 11-year-old with diabetes. Thankfully, Kanoa Rescue Foundation stepped in to save her, but she still needs your help!

Betty Davis quickly found her forever home. She now has a big yard, kids to play with, and a dad who loves to garden with Betty at his side. She has everything she could have ever hoped for, except she hasn’t won over her cat sibling yet.

While Betty’s abandonment was a callous act, we believe it was all a part of the plan to get her into the perfect home. Please remember, if you cannot keep your pet for whatever reason, do the right thing and rehome them properly. If your local shelter is full and cannot take them, please contact local rescue groups for their assistance. To see Betty’s rescue and the pup thriving in her new home, check out the video below.
