In LaBelle, Florida, a service dog sacrificed her life to protect her human from an alligator.
Precious the Pit Bull is Robert Lineburger’s service dog. Precious warns Robert by sensing his seizures before they happen, so she’s always by his side.
But one night when Robert and Precious were at the Port LaBelle Marina, an alligator was about to attack him. That’s when Precious jumped in front of Robert and lost her life as she was saving him from the jaws of the alligator.

Robert wasn’t able to see the alligator because there were no lights at the marina. He asked the Glades County code compliance officers to inspect the marina since he believes that having no lights there is a commercial code violation. He told Fox 4 news, “Nothing they will do will bring her back. But I do not want her death to be in vain. At least let it accomplish something and get some of these violations taken care of.”
Rest in peace, Precious. You did a great job in protecting your human. You were so brave and selfless. Our hearts go out to you.
