Way is a stray dog who was in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She had recently given birth to a litter of puppies and was trying her best to take care of them. While doing so, she encountered someone who also needed assistance.

Way, who had previously been able to fend for herself on the streets, now had additional dependents to provide for. She searched the area for any available food, cognizant of the urgency posed by the Argentine winter. While exploring an alley, Way discovered an infant who had been deserted by their mother. The dog’s maternal instincts immediately kicked in, prompting her to rescue the infant and care for it.

Way carried each of her puppies one by one and placed them around the newborn. Afterward, she wrapped her body around the group as best she could. The following morning, Alejandria Griffin, a resident, was shocked when she heard the cries of the newborn and went outside to investigate. A stray dog had taken in an abandoned baby as one of her own. She immediately called the police for help.

The baby, who was named Santino, was quickly taken to the emergency room for urgent medical care. Alejandria shared the story of the stray dog’s bravery, and the doctors strongly believe that the baby would not have survived if it weren’t for the dog’s heroic actions. Way was recognized as a hero. Santino was surprisingly in good shape for what he had been through, and most of that was thanks to the amazing care Way had provided.
