It was an ordinary day when Andrea, a passionate animal lover and well-known YouTuber who goes by the name Misus Yaya, found herself driving along a busy road. As she navigated through the traffic, her eyes were suddenly drawn to a small, trembling figure huddled near the curb. Intrigued and concerned, she slowed down to get a closer look, only to realize it was a dog in desperate need of help. This unexpected encounter would set the stage for a life-changing rescue that neither Andrea nor the little dog would ever forget.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Andrea pulled over and approached the frightened pup. The sight that greeted her was heartbreaking. The dog, who she later named Benji, was in a state of severe neglect. His fur, what little was left of it, had almost entirely fallen out due to a severe case of mange. His skin was raw and riddled with open sores, evidence of the relentless itching and discomfort he had endured. He was painfully thin, his frail body clearly starved of the nourishment it so desperately needed.
Benji’s ears were crusted over, the result of what Andrea suspected was a severe sarcoptic mange infestation. The sight was almost too much to bear, but Andrea knew that turning away was not an option. This little dog needed someone to fight for him, and Andrea was determined to be that person.
She gently scooped Benji into her arms and rushed him to the nearest veterinarian. As she waited for the vet’s assessment, Andrea could feel Benji’s small body trembling against hers. She whispered soothing words to him, hoping to offer some comfort despite the dire situation.
When the vet finally emerged, the news was grim. The vet examined Benji thoroughly and, after considering his advanced malnutrition, severe skin condition, and overall poor health, recommended that Benji be euthanized. Andrea’s heart sank at the suggestion. She looked down at Benji’s sweet, trusting eyes and felt a surge of determination. Benji’s immune system was virtually nonexistent, so round-the-clock care was essential.
In addition to his medical treatments, Andrea knew that Benji needed to be cleaned up and made comfortable. His condition was so severe that even the simple act of bathing him was a delicate process. His skin was extremely sensitive, and every touch had to be gentle to avoid causing him further pain. Andrea carefully bathed Benji, but despite her efforts, the strong odor that clung to his skin seemed impossible to wash away.
“He smelled so bad back then,” Andrea recalled in one of her videos, “and taking a bath didn’t really help to make it go away.”
Not one to give up easily, Andrea began researching natural remedies that might help alleviate Benji’s discomfort. She came across information about virgin coconut oil, which was said to have antimicrobial and antifungal properties. With nothing to lose and everything to gain, Andrea decided to give it a try. Every day, after gently bathing Benji, she would rub the coconut oil into his raw skin, hoping it would soothe the irritation and promote healing.
To Andrea’s amazement, Benji’s skin began to show signs of improvement. The coconut oil seemed to work wonders, helping to heal the sores and reduce the inflammation that had plagued him for so long.
“I was truly amazed at how quickly his skin started to heal,” Andrea said. “It was like watching a miracle unfold right before my eyes.”
But Benji’s recovery wasn’t just about treating his physical wounds. Andrea knew that he also needed nourishment, both for his body and his spirit. She made sure that Benji was fed a healthy diet, rich in the nutrients he needed to regain his strength. She also made sure to give him all the love and attention he had been starved of for so long.
As the days turned into weeks, the change in Benji was remarkable. His once dull eyes began to sparkle with a newfound energy, and his personality started to emerge. The scared, withdrawn dog Andrea had found on the street was transforming into a joyful, playful pup.
Benji started to wag his tail whenever he saw Andrea, a sure sign that he was beginning to trust her. He would run and play, his little body now strong enough to enjoy the simple pleasures of being a dog. One of his favorite activities was going to the beach. “His hair just doesn’t stop growing,” Andrea marveled. “He keeps getting puffier and puffier every day!”
It was hard to believe that this happy, healthy dog was the same Benji that Andrea had found trembling on the side of the road. The transformation was nothing short of miraculous, a testament to the power of love, care, and the will to survive.
A children's doctor had been evicted and had left items behind when she left. Among them was something alarming: a plastic storage bin, where a dog had been locked inside. If someone is this cruel to a small, defenseless dog, how can they continue to treat children as a doctor?
