Alice and Jeff, a compassionate couple from Macon, Mississippi, dedicate their lives to rescuing dogs in need. As founders of Southern Pup Rescue, they’ve experienced their fair share of challenging and heartwarming missions. One day, when a friend told Jeff about a white Shepherd dog spotted during a logging trip, they immediately felt the need to help. The location, deep in the woods along a secluded gravel road, left them uneasy, but they didn’t hesitate. They jumped into their car and drove into the wilderness, determined to find the dog.

After navigating through the dense forest, they finally caught sight of a white figure moving near the road. Pulling over, they realized it was indeed the dog their friend had mentioned. The beautiful Shepherd greeted them warmly, and her friendly demeanor made it easy for the couple to connect with her. As Alice petted the dog, she noticed the signs of nursing, leading her to believe the dog had a litter nearby.

Eager to locate her puppies, Alice and Jeff searched the surrounding woods but found no trace of them. Then, something remarkable happened. The mama dog began to walk away slowly, frequently looking back as if signaling them to follow her. Intrigued, the couple stayed close behind as she led them further into the wilderness.

After walking for a mile, the dog suddenly veered off toward a ditch. What they found left them in awe. In the ditch, nestled together, were nine tiny newborn puppies huddled for warmth. The sight was both beautiful and heartbreaking, especially knowing the family was just minutes away from being caught in an approaching storm.

With no time to spare, Alice and Jeff gently gathered the mother, whom they named Marathon, in honor of her persistence and her puppies. They loaded the family into their car and drove home, relieved that they had reached them in time. Once home, they prepared a safe, cozy area for Marathon to nurse her puppies. Despite her time surviving in the wild, Marathon quickly adapted to her new surroundings, beaming with happiness now that she and her babies were safe.

For now, Marathon and her puppies will remain with Alice and Jeff as they receive care and grow stronger. Once they’re ready, the little family will be available for adoption, each one destined for a loving forever home. Marathon’s courage and determination ensured her puppies’ survival and thanks to Alice and Jeff; their future looks bright.

Shortly after being released, he became overcome by rage and frustration and began violently wailing on his poor, trembling, frightened dog. It's clear that this man's violent tendencies didn't decrease after serving his time.
