The Minnesota Wild NHL team has signed on a new team member named Breezer. With four paws and fur, this teammate is a bit different than the rest!

Breezer is a rescue dog from the Coco’s Heart Dog Rescue, and has been signed on to a one-year training contract with the Minnesota team. Wild President Matt Majka and his wife, Kym have taken on this sweet pup with the intention of fostering him to his service dog potential.  At just 12 weeks of age, Breezer will spend the next year of his life alongside his new foster parents, and the Wild NHL team.

During this year he will go through basic obedience training, show up to practices, and attend Wild events. While he has a big year planned, his biggest event will come in the summer of 2020. Following his contract with the Wild team, he will pursue a career training with the Soldier’s 6, which is a non-profit organization that provides honorably discharged veterans, police officers, and firemen with specifically trained K9’s.

Once he has finished his specialized training, he will be placed with a deserving veteran with PTSD, and become a “Battle Buddy” for life. The Soldier’s 6 organization does incredible work to provide veterans with their very own battle buddy, that will help them through the difficult days in life.

Wild President Matt Majka was excited to have Breezer join the team, and to participate in honoring the incredible organizations that are the Coco’s Heart Dog Rescue and the Soldier’s 6 organization. In this next year they hope to gain recognition for these groups, and help spread awareness for the animals and veterans that they serve.

During this 2019 season for the Wild NHL team, Breezer will surely make so many friends! He is set to attend several events, and even attend most Wild games. Of course in his time off from his hockey team duties, he will be enjoying his time in a loving foster home. With the plethora of experiences planned for him over the next year, he will surely be ready to take on his training to be the best “battle buddy” that there is!

Luckily for us, we get to keep up with his journey through his very own Twitter and Instagram page. We can’t wait to see what the future has in store for this lucky pup!
