Owner Takes Unwanted Dog To Be Euthanized & Unknowingly Gives Him A Second Chance

| Published on December 27, 2016

Some people surrender their dogs for the most ridiculous reasons. But one dog owner took it a step further, bringing his unwanted pup to the vet…to be euthanized. Luckily, the Pit Bull, named Rocco, did not meet his end. Instead, he was granted a second chance.

When dog lover and advocate Jennifer Gordon found out about Rocco, she took matters into her own hands by spreading his story on Facebook in hopes of helping him find a forever home.

“Rocco was brought to the vet by his owner to euthanize him because ‘he didn’t want him anymore,'” she posted on Facebook. “He is up to date on all shots and is neutered very dog-child friendly.” She added, “[He] is crying at the vet because he doesn’t know why he’s there.”

Thanks to Gordon’s smart thinking, word of Rocco spread on Facebook, breaking the hearts of dog lovers. Inquiries poured in about the down-and-out dog.

Then a few days later, this Pittie got the miracle that he needed: he found his forever home! Soon, he was in the car and on his freedom ride to his new life in New Jersey.

“Rocco went to his forever home yesterday and is settling in really well…Thank you everyone for your love and support. It takes a village to save one dog…” Gordon posted.

She has since told iHeartDogs that Rocco is a “delight” to his family, and that they absolutely “adore” him!

“He just needed a lot of love and thats what we’ve been giving to him,” said the pup’s humans. “We’re also receiving a lot of love in return.”

A huge thank you to Gordon for going out of her way to help this sweet boy, and to Rocco’s new humans for welcoming him into their lives. It’s a beautiful story about the power of social media and how a little teamwork can go a long way – and even save a life!
