Danali is a special needs girl whose resilience and joyous spirit brightens the day of anyone she meets! At only 8-months-old, this Boxer mix has endured more trauma than any pup should.
When she was just 4-months-old, she was found pulling herself down a traffic-filled street with her back legs dragging behind her.
Luckily, she was found by a good Samaritan who took her to the vet. There, they discovered that she had a pellet lodged in her spine, which had damaged her spinal chord. Though the vets considered removing the pellet, they realized that the damage was permanent, so it was not worth performing the procedure and potentially causing infection.
Because of the injury, Danali cannot move her back legs, and she’s incontinent – but that doesn’t slow her down!
“She has an amazing spirit and makes everyone around her smile when they meet her,” reports her foster mom, who’s with Austin Pets Alive! in Texas. “Danali has learned to walk with a wheelchair and gets to sport the cutest diapers ever when out in public.”
Danali loves being around other friendly pups, so much so that she would do best in a home with a canine friend that would engage her with play, which encourages her to use her front legs.
This precious girl gets along with just about everyone, even cats, and “has never met a stranger she doesn’t love,” according to her foster mom.
“She often makes people swoon to her and when she encounters a group of people she requires that each member of the group, 2- and 4- legged, say ‘hello’ to her,” she says.
Danali is the life of the party, but when she’s tuckered out, has no problem putting herself to bed. She is independent despite her disability, yet very cooperative when it’s time to be carried around.
This sweetheart has a wonderful outlook on life – all she needs is her forever home!
“If you want your heart warmed daily by an animal that has pure love for life and you, then Danali is your girl!” says her foster mom.
