Seizure Alert Dogs are dogs who are trained to alert individuals who have seizures. Their task is to alert the individual prior to an epileptic seizure. A Seizure Response Dog on the other hand are trained to do certain tasks to assist an individual after a seizure, such as calling for help, and stimulating the person to wake up.
In the video below, Poppy the seizure alert dog, gave her owner a seizure warning 15 minutes before a seizure. Her owner, Shannon, then got herself to a safe place and set her camera. After the seizure, you will see Poppy licking Shannon to help her come around quicker and to lick away excess saliva to help prevent her from choking. Check out how helpful Poppy is in the video below!
Poppy is a very important part of Shannon’s life now–she has been a lifeline to Shannon. Poppy sure is one incredible dog!
