When Sully, short for Sullivan, first entered the picture, no one could have imagined how much he would change the lives of those who met him. The story began with a call to a volunteer at a sanctuary. She had found a young dog tied to a kennel alongside a highway. Unable to leave him behind, she brought him to safety. Initially, Sully’s condition puzzled everyone. He appeared healthy and well cared for, raising questions about why he had been abandoned in such a heartless manner.
With local shelters at capacity, the sanctuary offered to care for him temporarily. While the farm was far from a permanent solution for the playful pup, it was a place where he could recover and explore. Sully spent three weeks at the sanctuary, making the most of his time. Everything was new to him, and he approached each day with curiosity.
He became friends with the sanctuary’s pigs, chickens, cows, and horses, though he often seemed unsure about how to interact with animals so different from him. Despite his friendly interactions, it was clear the farm wasn’t his ideal home—Sully needed something more fitting for his personality.
That’s when a life-changing decision was made. The sanctuary owner’s son, who had dreamed of having a dog for years, saw videos of Sully and felt an instant connection. The moment he agreed to adopt Sully was unforgettable, filled with joy and excitement.
After moving to his new home, Sully quickly adapted. His transformation was remarkable; he became a calm and loving pup, displaying a maturity uncommon for a young dog. Sully’s gentle nature endeared him to everyone he met, and he seemed to know he was finally where he belonged.
