Sweet Girl Sally Finds Her Forever Home Thanks to You

| October 16, 2019

When you choose products from iHeartDogs, you become a hero. Why do we call you a hero? Because part of every purchase you make with us goes to helping shelter dogs in need. In our eyes, that makes you a dog saving hero and the shelter dogs you save most definitely feel the same! Thanks to a grant from GreaterGood.org, funded by the iHeartDogs.com community, a sweetie pie named Sally made it on a transport through the Second Chance Movement and found her forever home!

Sally is a reddish tan mixed breed with an adorable black snout. She was shuttled from shelter-to-shelter to keep her safe. She was first a resident at Sand Springs Animal Control in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. She had come there as a stray and fulfilled her legal stray hold. No one came to claim Sally so she was legally able to be made available for adoption. A volunteer reached out to the Humane Society of Tulsa to see if Sally could go on one of the transfers to their shelter. July 4th was approaching and Sand Springs Animal Control was nearing capacity. They had to make room for the expected influx of lost dogs that always happens during the firework festivities surrounding the 4th.

Sally was transported to the Humane Society of Tulsa where she received a health check, vaccinations, a microchip, and a heart worm test. At that point she was cleared for another transfer. On July 11 she was transported to St. Hubert’s in Madison, New Jersey. Sweet Sally had one more transport, which would be her last. She was moved from St. Hubert’s to the South Hampton Animal Shelter and after all that hustle and bustle, Sally got what she needed and wanted: to settle down in a forever home.

Mary is her dog mama and she reports that Sally is a very happy pup and wants all of us to know that she is a very well-loved dog! Mary had contacted the Humane Society of Tulsa to obtain background information on Sally. When she learned that Sally had been brought in as a stray, her heart was broken.

Mary’s exact words were, “I would search the entire planet 24/7 until I found my Sally. I just can’t imagine anyone willingly giving up such an amazing dog.”

Our hearts are overjoyed with learning about Sally’s happy ending! Thanks to the iHeartDogs community for the role you played in finding Sally her forever home.
