This week, in honor of National Deaf Dogs Awareness Week, we have partnered with Deaf Dogs Rock, a non-profit dedicating to promoting the care and well-being of deaf dogs, to bring you 7 amazing rocker dogs that need homes, and just happen to be deaf. But don’t let that stop you! Deaf dogs are amazing – just look at Semi’s story! Your new best friend might not be able to hear you, but that doesn’t stop them from being some of the best dogs around. Each dog has contact information if you are interested in adopting him or her. Can’t adopt? Don’t forget to SHARE this post to help these dogs find home and you can donate to Deaf Dogs Rock here.
#1 – Snow & Chipper – GA
This special brother and sister pair have a rare bond – Snow (the sister) is hearing and acts as a guide for Chipper, who is deaf. They were born on August 4, 2014. Due to their special relationship, the rescue requires these two to be adopted together. So if you are looking for two amazing dogs – this pair is it! They would love a savvy owner, who understand canine body language and is active. They do fine with our pets and children! If you would like to find out more details you can go to the Peach County Animal Rescue Facebook Page or email peachcountyanimalrescue@gmail.com. They ask that you include information about yourself, your family and your lifestyle.
#2 – Carl – VA
Carl is an 8-year-old rock star of a dog, thought to be a Bernese Mountain Dog/Leonberger Mix. This guys is a true “gentle giant” – he is friendly, affectionate, and calm! He just wants a cuddle buddy! City Dog’s Rescues says: “He seldom barks, doesn’t chew on things he is not supposed to and has not had any accidents in his foster homes. As an older fellow, he sleeps a lot and is pretty low-key. He loves nothing more than affection and rolling around in the grass. This gentle giant is patient and affectionate and has shown no signs of separation anxiety.” Sounds like the perfect dog to us! To adopt Carl, fill out the application on the City Dogs Rescue site.
#3 – Adrienne – NY
4-year-old Adrienne has been at the shelter for 2 years – half her life! She was showcased in a wonderful “Flower Power Pitty” photo series, where her beauty really shines through. She is a boxer mix – sweet, with a low key disposition. She is looking for a home as an only dog, as other dogs worry her. If you think you can give her the loving attention she needs, contact Emily Tanen, Town of Hempstead Animal shelter at etanen@tohmail.org.
#4 – Toby – CA
Are you looking for a smaller dog? If so, Toby fits the bill perfectly! At 7 years old he is just 15 pounds of pure love. He is a poodle mix, so he may be the right dog for someone with allergies or doesn’t want a lot of dog hair around the house. His is looking for a new best friend with an open lap for cuddles and is very eager to please! To adopt Toby, fill out an application at norcalfamilydogrescue.org. He is currently located at Family Dog Rescue in San Francisco.
#5 – Luna – CT
This playful Australian Shepherd mix is just 8 months old and looking for a wonderful home. Luna is high energy and love people and other dogs! She is house broken and responds well to hand signals. She does fine with children and cats too – could you ask for more? If you are interested in Luna, you can contact her foster family at kurman.andrews@gmail.com.
#6 – Shiloh – CA
Does your bigger dog want a buddy? If so, 9-month-old Shiloh might be the perfect fit! He is a boxer puppy that loves to play with the dogs in his foster home and really wants to be in a home with a big brother or sister who can “show him the ropes.” He has a special buddy at his current foster home, Kane (who is also available for adoption if you are looking for two special dogs). If you are interested in Shiloh, you can contact his foster through NorCal Boxer Rescue at info@ncbr.org.
#7 – Ghost – TN
Ghost was given a second chance at life when he was pulled by a rescue organization from a high kill shelter. He is a 5-month-old mix with pretty blue eyes. He is house and crate trained, and is good with children and dogs. They do not about cats. He is looking for an awesome family with a fenced yard and plenty of chews. If you are interested in adopting Ghost, contact Stephanie Daniels at Wet Noses Canine Rescue, s.d.daniels@outlook.com.
