When dogs first arrive at shelters and rescues, they’re usually not looking their best. Without proper grooming, they can easily be overlooked by potential adopters. That’s why Wahl and Greater Good have partnered for the 9th annual “Dirty Dogs Contest.”
This contest showcases the most heartwarming shelter dog transformations and it urges you to vote for the story that stole your heart the most. The top three finalists will earn large donations for their organizations. But they can’t do it without your support!
How Does it Work?
Wahl has currently narrowed down the competition to the ten best rescue dog transformations. This includes a wide variety of brave dogs, including Florence who recovered from severe mange, Scruffy who was abandoned on the side of the road, and Toko who was brought to the shelter in a rabbit cage. Now, all these pups are looking better than ever!
For this contest, Wahl donated essential grooming supplies to all the organizations in order to help them give their dogs makeovers. Animal advocate Lee Asher has also stepped up to help by discussing the importance of grooming shelter dogs with the public.
“The dog’s appearance can completely transform, but more importantly, the dog feels healthier and happier, and their true personality can finally shine through. Sometimes, that’s all it takes to capture the heart of their new human,” said Asher.
After the shelters and rescues used the grooming products for the dogs in their care, they sent Wahl photos of the dramatic transformations. From there, the company decided which dogs had the most beautiful and most emotional makeovers. Of course, all the participating dogs look amazing now!
