Cholula, an expectant mom, and friendly Pit Bull arrived at the shelter with an open heart. She loved to walk around and say hi to the staff. Cholula was loved by all! One night, after everyone went home for the day, the Pittie gave birth to a healthy litter of seven girls and one boy.

Thom and Alicia, who are active in the rescue and foster communities, volunteered to take the entire family in. Oddly, Cholula’s personality changed. She wouldn’t even make eye contact with Thom. But Thom understood that this was a scary time for her, especially now that she was in charge of protecting 8 little lives.

The foster dad turned his home office into a nursery and the doggy family settled in. Both foster parents were amazed at how often the babies would nurse and Cholula was so patient about it! However, she was still nervous and hesitant around her foster parents. But soon came a solution! Cholula was finally able to meet Thom and Alicia’s dog, Ruby. And Ruby made her feel safe.

Once the pups grew and were able to do more on their own, Cholula felt more comfortable being with Thom and Alicia and a whole new friendship blossomed. But of course, mothering the pups didn’t stop and poor Cholula was so exhausted from nursing and caring for the babies that Thom had to carry her to bed. Thom and Alicia do the most beautiful things for the doggy family! Thom even sings to the puppies and this can’t be missed! Thank you Thom and Alicia for fostering dogs in need!
