Tiny Puppy Sets Record As The Smallest Dog To Ever Be Adopted Out From Wisconsin Shelter

| Published on January 13, 2017

If tiny creatures make you melt, you’re going to fall in love with a precious pup named Thumbelina! Chihuahuas are known for being small, but this sweet girl is itty bitty, even for a Chi!

At 3 months old, the perfectly-named Thumbelina weighs 1.54 pounds and was put up for adoption by the Wisconsin Humane Society, where she was surrendered just before Thanksgiving. Fully grown, she’s only projected to weight about 2 pounds or so!

What’s more, there’s a happy ending for this petite princess. She’s been adopted by a family who has another Chihuahua. They’re tiny dog fans who simply could not live without her.

“We’re over the moon about our family getting a wee bit bigger today,” Jenny Stache, the pup’s new mom, told Fox 6 Milwaukee. “We have another Chihuahua from WHS and we just adore her and know they’ll be great friends.”

Thumbelina broke the record for being the smallest dog to be adopted out by the Wisconsin Humane Society. You know what they say: the best things can come in small packages!

Can’t get enough of this precious pup? neither can we!

Congratulations to Thumbelina and her new family. She may be teeny, but she’s got a lot of love to give!
