Thanks to a recently awarded grant from iHeartDogs to Greater Good and their partner Pets for Vets, this organization is able to continue their important mission of providing a second chance for both returning veterans and shelter dogs in need of the perfect forever home. When a pet and veteran match is made, two lives are saved.
Jake and Tank are one of those matches. Jake served overseas and found strength and comfort through his new service dog as he adjusted back to civilian life.
“I can’t believe how fast we connected,” said Jake of his new pal, Tank. “It’s like he knew exactly what he needed to do.”
The veteran went on to explain that the dog makes him feel safe and lifts his spirits every single day.
“He always is just concerned about me, or it really seems that way. He can be so serious when we are out, but can be such a silly puppy at home, keeping me on my toes.”
“He wakes me every morning and puts me in such a great mood because he never makes me really get up, he is just checking if he can lay next to me for a few more minutes of sleep.”
We’re so happy to see how these two have enriched each other’s lives, and we’re proud to help support Pets for Vets.
“I’m so grateful for him! He is my best friend!” Jake said of his canine companion.
