Okay, weirdos. It’s your time to shine!

Omni, a plant-based pet food company in England, is offering dog moms and dads a job that REALLY stinks! For the use of your sniffer and two months of your time, Omni will compensate some lucky participants with over $6,000.

What’s the catch? (There’s always a catch.)

The catch is that you have to be willing to switch your pup to a plant-based diet and give their dingleberries a little scientific sniff, then record your findings. So, basically, if you’re not afraid of poo (or being judged by literally everyone) and you’ve always wanted to be a scientist, here’s your chance.

Get Your Lab Coats Ready

Pet parent participants must be over 18-years-old. Additionally, the four-legged test subjects must not already be on a plant-based diet. If Omni chooses you to participate in the study, you will be required to take detailed notes about how the diet affects their butt burritos and their overall wellness.

“For the role to be successful we will ask the owner to record their experience of introducing their dog to a plant-based diet, monitoring their bowel movements, stool odor, health, energy levels, behavior, sleep pattern, and physical attributes, such as weight, skin, and fur condition,” Omni wrote on its website. “Both at the beginning and the end of the initial two-month period, the dog will receive a general exam from a registered vet to assess how the transition to a plant-based diet has impacted their digestive and general health,” the description goes on to state.

In addition to the monetary compensation, Omni will also cover the cost of transitioning your little pooper to a plant-based diet. This includes a free supply of Omni pet food plus visits to a pet nutritionist who will ensure that the transition goes well.

But wait! There’s more!

If the bonding experience of basking in your pooch’s air biscuits wasn’t enticing enough, your dog will also get a supply of vegan dog treats and toys. It’s the least they can do. Prius rides to the dog park not included.

Why Plant-Based Food For A Dog?

By now, you’re probably asking yourself a lot of questions. Could I willingly bring myself to smell dog poop every day for two months like some sort of scat sommelier? There are dog nutritionists? Why would I feed plants to an animal that is a descendent of wolves?

Great questions. We can’t answer the first one. That’s between you and your sense of dignity. As for the second question, yes, there are dog nutritionists. We’ll leave it to Omni to answer the last one.

“We understand there may be some pre-existing and negative misconceptions about feeding your dog a plant-based diet. We hope that by hiring someone to transition their dog to a vet-formulated, plant-based diet — and analyze the effects that the diet has on their pup, both inside and out — we can take another step towards proving the benefits it can have on dogs’ digestive health and general health, not least through their poop!” the company shared.
