iHeartDogs works closely with GreaterGood by donating part of each sale to their various charity efforts. Through these donations the GreaterGood is able to offer support to multiple animal rescues, and provide grants to organizations that desperately need it. Wings of Rescue is a 501(c)3 charity that flies endangered pets from high intake shelters to no-kill shelters, from where they have all been adopted into loving homes. To date they have flown 7,161 pets (4,868 dogs, 2,276 cats, 13 pot-bellied pigs, 3 rabbits and one Cockatoo) to safety, and have participated in other humanitarian efforts around the world.
Wings of Rescue relies on donations from the public to help them carry out their extraordinary efforts, and grants from businesses that support their vision. Thanks to a grant from GreaterGood.org that was funded by the iHeartDogs community, Wings of Rescue recently covered costs to fly 50 dogs from a high-risk shelter state to one where dogs and cats are adopted almost immediately.
Among those on the plane was a tiny Beagle puppy named Bobo that had recently been rescued from a terrible fate. Bobo had found himself in the arms of a cruel owner, and was almost thrown off a bridge and drowned in the Mississippi River. Thankfully rescuers intervened, and Bobo was instead taken to the Humane Society of Delta.
Though the team at the Arkansas shelter do their best for the animals that walk through their door, they often struggle to find homes for each and every dog. Luckily the Wings of Rescue team swooped in and saved the day for 50 lucky pups that were ready to find their future families! Within days, Bobo and his friends were on their way to the Kootenai Humane Society in Hayden, Idaho where they would immediately go up for adoption. Sometimes all a dog needs is a chance to be seen, and by flying them to a shelter with high adoption rates, they are able to offer them families they may not have had otherwise!
Within ten minutes of being made available, Bobo was adopted and heading off to his forever home. Without the help of the team at Wings Of Rescue, who knows how long Bobo would have waited for his happy ending. We’re so happy for this adorable pup and are certain he will have an incredible future with his new family!
