When Freddy the Great Dane was just a young puppy, he was the runt of the litter. His sister, Fleur, was about twice his size! When Claire Stoneman adopted Freddy and Fleur, she never imagined that Freddy would grow much, much bigger than his sister.

However, now Freddy is recognized as the tallest dog in the world. Once he started living with Stoneman, he began growing rapidly. Eventually, he reached 7 feet and 6 inches when standing on his hind legs, surpassing the previous record holder.

Freddy’s Insane Growth

During Freddy’s puppy days, Stoneman noticed unusual changes in his appearance. The pup went from being much smaller than average to growing at a surprising rate. Once he reached 18 months old, he was 7 feet and 4 inches, the same height as Zeus, the Great Dane from Michigan that held the record before Freddy. Stoneman suspected that Freddy wasn’t done growing yet though.

As puppies, Freddy and Fleur were a lot to handle. Fleur might not have been growing as much as her brother, but they still caused an equal amount of destruction. The mischievous puppies had a habit of ripping up the couch, but Stoneman always forgave them. They are her two furry children, so nothing could stop her from loving them.

Now, both Freddy and Fleur are full-grown. They’ve realized that the couch is actually a comfortable place to sleep, not a chew toy. However, while the two dogs are now well-behaved adults, they still have a lot of care requirements.

Stoneman has to spend approximately $123 a week on food for her dogs. Since they are so big, they also have an extremely big appetite. Also, Stoneman walks them very early in the morning so they don’t scare any of the neighbor dogs. Freddy and Fleur are very gentle, but they’re often intimidating at first glance.

The New World Record

When Freddy stopped growing, he reached 7 feet and 6 inches standing on his hind legs. So, after some careful consideration, he was named the new tallest dog in the world by Guinness World Records. He was even given an official certificate to show off to his friends.

Freddy weighs just over 200 pounds, so even without his certificate, he’s still an incredible dog. If Stoneman ever walks him in public, people often stop to meet him. Sometimes, cars will even stop and pull over just to look at him. Many people are amazed that a dog could be so big. Luckily, Freddy loves all the extra attention.

Since Freddy is now a celebrity, his mom makes sure to share all his adventures on social media. Freddy has his own Facebook and Instagram, where he posts plenty of adorable photos about his daily life. This giant pup is living the dream!
