For a dog, they are not awarded the luxury to choose the life in which they live. The lucky ones are fortunate to always have had a good home, while others must first face struggles before receiving the love they so rightfully deserve. Meet Esther, an abused chocolate Labrador with a puppy mill past, so mistreated that when she first rescued she urinated herself in fear. That’s no life to live, and the caring people who rescued her wanted nothing more than to see her make a full recovery and learn to trust a human again.

Through the help of the castaways program at correctional facilities, they work with dogs from shelters that don’t have the better chances of being adopted–those facing euthanasia. They take these dogs and get them individualized attention and training to bring out their personalities, hoping to change their lives in ways no one else tried. In just 5 weeks, the transformation that Esther went through was astounding! Just watch and see!

It’s rather ironic to see people who society has cast away for them criminal wrongdoings get to help those pets in need so that they can serve society, whether that be as a service dog or a family pet. It’s nice to see some good come out of somewhere that you would never suspect to see it. Share this cool story with your friends!
