Ruby is a pure breed working sheep dog. She once belonged to a farmer who paid a lot of money to get her, expecting her to excel in sheep-herding. But Ruby wasn’t born for that. So when she failed as sheep dog, the coldhearted farmer got mad at her and beat her. Ruby didn’t understand what she did wrong.
Then the farmer decided he didn’t want her any more, and almost did the unthinkable. She got so scared that she wet herself. But when the farmer was about to shoot her, she jumped at him and stared into his eyes, she didn’t want her life to end just yet. And she must have thought that maybe, just maybe, there’s still some kindness left on the farmer’s heart.
The farmer felt sorry for Ruby. He put down his gun, and quickly made a call. That call led to the life that Ruby has now–at Edgar’s Mission– a non-profit Farm Sanctuary.
We are very excited to announce we will be opening bookings for September dates of tours of Edgar’s Mission tomorrow!…

At Edgar’s Mission, Ruby found her purpose. This sweet and caring dog was not born to herd sheep, she was born to shower unconditional love to other animals.
