Jack is a lovable dog who has overcome incredible odds. Born with Spina Bifida, Jack was abandoned in a box outside a veterinarian’s office, covered in fleas and without any medical support. Thankfully, a rescue organization stepped in to save him when no one else would. Today, Jack is living his best life with his devoted mom, Wendy, who first saw him on Instagram and knew she was meant to love and care for him.

Wendy, who lives in Oregon, drove 1,700 miles to Omaha, Nebraska, to meet Jack and his foster parent halfway. When they met, Wendy was in tears and knew he belonged with her. Once in his new home, Jack settled in and laid in his new bed. It was as if he had been with Wendy and her other dogs his whole life.

Despite his condition, Jack gets around the house quite well, thanks to physical therapy and strength training. Wendy and her family are active hikers, and Jack loves joining them on their adventures. He gets excited for his wheelchair, but his favorite mode of transportation is a backpack that allows him to enjoy adventures with his favorite people.

Unfortunately, not everyone is understanding of Jack’s situation. Wendy has encountered people who are negative and even rude, accusing her of causing Jack’s condition and making him suffer by keeping him alive. However, Wendy remains positive and uses these encounters as opportunities to educate others about Jack’s condition and the joy he brings to their lives.

Jack is a happy, playful dog who loves to do silly things, like stealing Wendy’s belongings. He wears doggy clothes to protect his sensitive skin from sunburn, chafing, and environmental allergies. Despite the challenges he faces, Jack is healthy and strong. He’s living his best life with a family who adores him.

Wendy wishes Jack could understand just how loved he is, even when they face negativity from others. She wants him to know that despite the actions of those who abandoned him, countless people love and support him.
