Gertrude was a stray in a huge Midwest shelter. She was on the euthanasia list and had no time left before Purple Power Animal Welfare Society pulled her into their foster program.

She had been a puppy breeding machine for someone, with skin issues and was heartworm positive.

Today, Gertrude lives in a foster home with 3 other dogs and is thriving! She was 34 lbs on intake and now is 55 lbs. She’s on medication, was recently spayed and will begin her heartworm treatment soon. Despite her troubling first 5 years of life, she is such a happy and loving dog that will make a great companion for someone.

“We couldn’t change her life without the aid from Rescue Bank. When we don’t have to absorb the high costs of food and other items for our pups, we can utilize those funds for life-saving vetting and supplies.”
