For Georgia Bradley, she was just a regular twenty something woman on vacation in Greece living in the moment. While on a beach one evening in Crete, two men approached her and asked her to join them for a drink, but when she politely declined things took an ugly turn. One of the men suddenly grabbed her by the arm and as she feared for her life she began to scream. Then, out of nowhere, a black stray dog burst into action to come to Georgia’s aid, scaring the two men away.
The Plymouth University student said: “Pepper shot out of nowhere, jumped up at me and began barking and licking my hand, and that made the men think twice.
Even as the two men thankfully left, the protective black dog stayed close to her side. Georgia realized in that moment that this dog she’d never seen before was responsible for possibly saving her life, and as she walked back to the apartment she was staying at, the dog kept close behind her. Georgia couldn’t help but to name the dog, choosing “Pepper” as a suitable choice given her coat.

But sadly, just like any vacation, her trip was set to come to an end some days later, and the 25-year-old student was set to go back to university in the UK where she lived. But even as she left, her heart felt heavy leaving the little dog who saved her behind.
“She saved me. She must have noticed something was wrong. When I went back to the apartment she followed me and finally let us stroke her. We had an instant bond. When we left to go to the airport, we looked back and Pepper was running after the car. It was heartbreaking.
“When I got home I couldn’t stop thinking about her so I took the soonest flight back out that I could, which was two weeks later.”
This is when Georgia did something that some people might think was crazy. She set out back to Greece to find Pepper.
In the span of 5 weeks, with some 6,000 miles traveled back and forth and thousands of pounds later, Georgia was reunited with Pepper on the very same beach where they first met. “It was a real risk because we may never have found her again. But when we saw Pepper on the beach, it was the best feeling ever.”

Georgia immediately claimed the dog, trying to find a vet to treat her and get her current on her vaccinations. The process for official adoption required a 21 day quarantine for Pepper, where Georgia had to make another trip back and forth from her home in the UK. And when she returned to fetch her new pet, the vet technician had a shocking surprise for her: Pepper was expecting puppies!
After receiving her vaccines and a pet passport, Georgia and Pepper were set to fly home. And a week after returning, Pepper gave birth to a litter of 6 puppies!

“It has been such a crazy journey. But I am over the moon. Pepper has settled in brilliantly.”
