Ben & Jerry’s, the Vermont-based ice cream company that brought us “Chunky Monkey” and “Phish Food” has something brand new and exciting to introduce. The confectioners revealed their latest products are geared specifically towards our canine companions. That’s right, they’re selling frozen treats for dogs!
Ben & Jerry’s famously prides themselves on a dog-friendly work environment. They have several “K9 to 5ers” who inspired this new product line. A very Ben & Jerry’s-esque description of the brand new dog-friendly frozen treats on the site reads:
“Yip yip hooray! Just when you thought we only made flavor fantasies come true for people, we’ve unleashed something truly cool for pooches, too! Inspired by our lovable muttley office crew of K9-to-5’ers, these just-for-dogs frozen treats are the most doggie-awesome desserts we ever packed in nifty mini-cups. Whether you’re rewarding good pups or cooling off a yardful of party animals, we think they’re just about the finest, K9-est frozen treats you can fetch for your 4-legged friends.”
About Ben & Jerry’s Frozen Dog Treats
These frozen desserts come in mini packs and multipacks of 4 cups, just in case your pal ends up loving every last chilly bite. Your dog can enjoy two different types of Ben & Jerry’s treats: “Rosie’s Batch” and “Pontch’s Mix.”
“Rosie’s Batch” contains pumpkin, vanilla extract, and a host of other fats and proteins. “Pontch’s Mix” tastes like a dog favorite, peanut butter. Both flavors contain wheat, soy, and milk. You can see the full list of ingredients on the Ben & Jerry’s website. The ingredients used are natural, but you should consult them in case of allergies.
Though your dog probably doesn’t care much about this part, these treats come in those signature Ben & Jerry’s ice cream containers. How cute are these?
These products are set to hit grocery stores by the end of January, 2021, so keep an eye out. In the meantime, we’ve got some pretty good recipes for homemade dog treats to check out. You can never spoil your pup too much!
These Are Not Quite Ice Cream
Since experts say dogs can only tolerate small amounts of dairy, Ben & Jerry’s frozen dog treats were designed to contain less. The company explains:
“…that’s exactly why we churned up Ben & Jerry’s Doggie Desserts with very limited amounts of dairy, so they are perfectly safe for your dog to enjoy. These frosty treats for dogs are made with sunflower butter, which is dog-safe (and dog-delicious).”
Dogs can safely consume sunflower butter. Ben & Jerry’s notes that technically these products are safe for humans to sneak a taste too. But don’t forget however tasty, you bought them for your pup!
