Benji, a four-year-old dog, had been adopted and returned to the shelter seven times with little or no explanation. The staff at the shelter were puzzled as to why this friendly and affectionate dog kept being returned. One young student working at the shelter, Clara, decided to take Benji home to observe his behavior in a different setting.

When Clara brought Benji home, he was his usual joyous self but when she opened up the door and let her other dog and cat into the room, everything changed. Benji suddenly became aggressive and violent towards her other fur-kids. After some investigation, she found out that all of Benji’s previous owners had other pets, and they had returned him due to his violent behavior towards them. They had covered up this behavior, hoping Benji would still find a suitable family.

Determined to help Benji, Clara began training him to be less hostile towards other animals. Over time, Benji started to get used to the presence of Clara’s other pets, and eventually, they were able to coexist peacefully. Clara decided to adopt Benji herself, giving him a forever home and providing him with love, attention, and training. This is a lesson that even a dog with behavioral issues can become a great pet with the right training and the right amount of love and persistence.
