As most of you probably know, it’s illegal in most places to feed wildlife. The laws are there to protect the animals from being fed things that can harm, but also to keep them from becoming a nuisance – can you imagine a campground where the bears where offered food by us? Probably not a good idea and we can all appreciate why.
However, some cities have adopted this same principle (and law!) for stray dogs, making it illegal to feed them. Houston, Texas is one of these cities.
Nicole is a volunteer for Operation Houston – a program started by the World Animal Awareness Society (WA2S) to quantify the stray dog population in Houston (rumored to be close to one million!) and to bring to light the plight of these dogs.
As part of her volunteer efforts, Nicole feeds the stray dogs they come across in Houston.
