Dog Found On The Brink Of Death Spends MONTHS Recovering… See Her Amazing Transformation!

| Published on December 21, 2016

Poor Antonia comes from tragic beginnings. At just one year old, she was found behind a trashcan in an alley in Chicago and was so neglected and sick, she was on the brink of death. With a high fever and severe infections, this poor pup was covered in maggots that had burrowed in the mats of her fur.

She was taken to Trio Animal Foundation (TAF), where her skin was treated as if it were burned, and aggressive antibiotics were given to treat her deep, painful ear infection. Antonia was so traumatized, that even after the maggots were gone, she still pawed at her body as if she was trying to swat the pests away.

But TAF would not give up on this sweet girl, providing her with all the treatment, love, and care she needed. After she was healed physically, they started to work on repairing her emotional wounds. With the help of three therapy dogs, she learned to re-socialize and trust humans.

Now, after months of treatment, Antonia is in her forever home!

“When Antonia first met her potential parents, it was like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders,” TAF wrote on their Facebook page. “She immediately bonded with them and even played. This was the first time that she had done this with strangers.”

From beginning to end, the difference in the dog is like night and day! Her happy face is just so beautiful!

“Antonia now lives in a quiet suburb of Chicago with a mom and dad that adore her,” reads the rescue’s Facebook page. “She will be their one and only love and not a day will go by that she will ever think otherwise. From here on out, she will have a beautiful life.”

We just love this happy ending! Thanks to all the wonderful people who gave Antonia the second chance that she deserves.
