The city of Elgin, Texas is experiencing flash floods, but firefighters were busy with a different kind of rescue earlier this week. A small puppy was on a walk with his owner Monday evening when he fell into an open storm drain.

The rescue by local firefighters was caught on video, and features James Daniel Lopez climbing into the tight spot to retrieve the bewildered, but otherwise uninjured pup.

With so much going on in their town, firefighter Lopez and his coworkers must have appreciated this simple – and adorable – diversion!
