Donna Lochmann is no stranger to animal rescues. Over the years, she has answered countless calls to help animals in dire situations, and her dedication never wavers. Whether it’s the sweltering summer heat or the biting cold of winter, Donna is always ready to step in. So, when she got a call about a small white dog braving the freezing St. Louis snow, she grabbed her gear and set out with her rescue partner. A concerned neighbor reported that the pup had been moving between porches for weeks, and Donna knew she had to act fast.

Finding the little dog proved to be more challenging than expected. For two hours, Donna and her partner drove through the neighborhood, scanning the snowy streets for the elusive pup. Despite their efforts, the dog evaded them at every turn, her fear making her quick to flee. Finally, they managed to corner her on a porch, cutting off her escape routes. Even then, the pup wasn’t ready to trust her rescuers, growling to show her unease.

Donna, well-versed in handling scared animals, knew just what to do. She calmly reached into her pocket and pulled out some treats, offering them to the wary pup. Her patience paid off. After spending some time on the porch to build trust, Donna carefully scooped the dog up using her coat and carried her to the safety of the car.

The weeks spent surviving in the snow had taken a toll on the little dog. She was soaked and shivering, and her fur was matted beyond recognition. But her ordeal was finally over. At the Stray Rescue of St. Louis shelter, she was given a warm bath and a fresh haircut, completely transforming her appearance. The once-wild pup, now named ‘Joanie January,’ was ready for a fresh start.

It didn’t take long for Joanie to find a loving foster home. Ally Turner, a kind-hearted foster mom, opened her home to the pup. From the moment they met, it was clear that Joanie and Ally were a perfect match. Joanie no longer has to face the cold streets; she now enjoys the comfort of a warm couch and the love of a human who adores her.

Shortly after being released, he became overcome by rage and frustration and began violently wailing on his poor, trembling, frightened dog. It's clear that this man's violent tendencies didn't decrease after serving his time.

We are sure this charming little pup will find her forever home soon. Thank you, Stray Rescue of St. Louis! You’re all incredible heroes that deserve all the accolades in the world. To see Joanie’s exciting rescue, click ‘play’ below.
