Children are pure, honest, and, above all else, loving. They don’t mince words, so when they do something wonderful, you know it’s from the heart. One boy named Troy fell in love with his neighbor’s adorable puppy. He desperately wanted to play with the dog, but the pandemic forbade it. Troy was distraught. Like most kids, being locked away from friends and staying home was both isolating and boring. He tried to think of a way he could be around the dog, but nothing was plausible. He couldn’t simply run out of his house and introduce himself, so he came up with a clever way to communicate. He wrote the puppy a letter!

Feeling isolated because he couldn’t see his friends, Troy, a fourth-grader, realized he had a potential companion right next door. His neighbors owned a Golden Retriever puppy named Arthur, affectionately called Arthur the Floof. Gathering his courage, Troy penned a heartfelt letter to Arthur’s owners.

The letter said, “Hello neighbors, my name is Troy, I’m in 4th grade and I’m just wondering if maybe after this virus you need a dog sitter and if so, I can take your dog on walks and more.”

Written in red and blue, it was clearly Troy’s own handiwork. Who could resist such a polite request from a young boy who adored dogs? Certainly not Arthur’s owners, who arranged a playdate for Troy and the playful pup. Arthur was thrilled to meet his new human friend, and despite social distancing measures, the two had a delightful time together, marking the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

“I made friends with a small hooman today. He’s like basically me-sized. I bet I can get him to give me more treats than my hoomans,” Arthur shared on his Instagram. Despite the restrictions, Troy and Arthur enjoyed their time together, and their bond grew stronger.

Though there are no photos of Troy and Arthur together due to privacy concerns, Troy’s touching letter quickly went viral, turning Arthur into an internet sensation.

“My hoomans told me that me and my fren Troy broke the pupernet yesterday,” Arthur informed his followers on Instagram.

Their heartwarming story melted the hearts of many online. Since then, Arthur’s life has seen many positive changes. He grew into a handsome big boy, his mom graduated, and they relocated. Despite the changes, Arthur fondly remembers his friendship with Troy. Even though Troy is older now, Arthur loves to remind everyone about his special friend.

Shortly after being released, he became overcome by rage and frustration and began violently wailing on his poor, trembling, frightened dog. It's clear that this man's violent tendencies didn't decrease after serving his time.

“For the last day before my birthday, I had to look back on the thing that brought me all you! Thanks to my pal down the hall I made so many internet frens this year. Just as an update, Troy and I hung out a lot before I moved to Utah! This will always be our fav quarantine memory,” Arthur posted.

Dogs like Arthur leave a lasting impression, and kids like Troy grow into remarkable individuals. Their memories, captured in photos and videos, live on. Check out Arthur’s page by clicking here. This beautiful dog definitely deserves a follow! Thank you to his humans for sharing his story.
