When it comes to fostering dogs, every experience is different. Some dogs find forever homes immediately while others have to wait a little longer. In many cases, it all comes down to how well foster families advertise adoptable dogs. The more cute videos and stories they share, the more interested adopters become. One silly photo or video could change a foster dog’s life!

Content about foster dogs that goes viral is even better. If news sites pick up stories about adoptable dogs, people from all over the world usually want to help out. For a dog in Colorado, all it took was an amusing talent to wow adopters.

Foster Dog’s Amazing Talent

A foster family in Colorado was having trouble getting a beautiful Labrador Retriever adopted. Luckily, it didn’t take long for them to learn about his secret talent. They knew they could use it to the pup’s advantage.

The pup’s foster dad discovered that the dog had a special talent for balancing items on his head, specifically any type of food. Whenever he would set something on top of the dog’s head, the pup would get completely still to ensure it didn’t fall. No matter how weird-shaped or tasty the objects seemed, the dog maintained the ultimate patience.

This talent isn’t something the foster family taught the dog. It’s something he learned all on his own. No one forced him to do this trick, and he seems to enjoy the extra attention that comes with it. As it turns out, there have been a few other dogs with a similar skill, including Harlso the Instagram-famous Dachshund.

Balancing Act Leads to Forever Home

The foster dad took videos of all the things the Lab could balance. Those items included a muffin, a banana, a Nutella jar, a near-empty jug of milk, and a box of Goldfish. The dog seems calm and relaxed, putting minimal effort into his talent. Even the large items seem to be a breeze for him.

So, the foster family used these videos to help their foster dog find his forever home. Sure enough, adopters fell in love with this dog’s secret talent. In no time, a family in Colorado adopted him and gave him a loving home. Now they can show his unique party trick to all their friends.

Sadly, a dog’s cute face isn’t always enough to get them adopted. Foster families often need to go above and beyond to find creative ways to advertise adoptable pets. This foster dad’s method worked, so maybe there are other dogs out there with secret talents. It might seem like a lot of work, but it’s always worth it to see the joy in a dog’s eyes when they finally have a place to call home.
