When an animal rescuer first heard about a puppy abandoned near some derelict buildings, he was filled with disbelief and sadness. He was unable to comprehend why someone would do such a thing. The rescuer hurried to the location, where he encountered a heartbreaking scene. A small, frail puppy was lying motionless on a red blanket, clearly unwell. Her cries were a clear sign that she was in pain, and the rescuer knew he had to act fast to save her life.
The puppy’s condition was dire, but her new protector was determined to give her a fighting chance. After a quick assessment, he realized she was running out of time. Without hesitation, he scooped her up and drove as quickly as possible to the nearest veterinary clinic.
The journey felt like an eternity, but they finally arrived, and the veterinary team sprang into action. The little pup was immediately placed under emergency care and underwent several tests to identify the root of her ailments. While awaiting the results, the veterinarians provided treatments to ease her suffering, offering her a glimmer of relief.
Caring for the puppy, now named Melissa, became an around-the-clock commitment. Her rescuer brought her food every few hours and carefully fed her using a syringe since she was too weak to lift her head. Despite her fragile state, there were small signs of improvement. One day, with help, Melissa managed to eat from a bowl on her own, devouring the food as if to show her determination to recover.
Day by day, Melissa grew stronger. Over two weeks of diligent care, she began to regain her energy and spirit. Soon, she was eating independently and, eventually, running freely around the yard. Her playful demeanor and wagging tail became a source of joy for her rescuer, who was proud to see her thriving.
After four months of recovery, Melissa was ready to find her forever home. Her rescuer carefully searched for the perfect family, ensuring she would be loved and cherished. The day Melissa met her new parents was filled with excitement and happiness. They instantly fell in love with her, and it was clear she would be spoiled with affection.
Merida is a senior who was found abandoned in a backyard with her sibling who had passed away. She was left to fend for herself as an 11-year-old with diabetes. Thankfully, Kanoa Rescue Foundation stepped in to save her, but she still needs your help!
