Misty May Trainer VS. Dog Athlete – Who Will Win?

| July 25, 2016

Ever watched the Olympics and thought that your dog could bury the competition? Obviously, Olympians are the world’s best human athletes, but they still only have two legs. Canine athletes not only have four legs, but they have some seriously agile moves. So who exactly would win in a match race? Purina Pro Plan asked Misty May-Treanor (three-time Olympic gold medalist and avid dog lover) to compete against Schemer (top canine competitor in the Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge) for some fun science to answer that very question!

“Purina Pro Plan wanted to showcase the unique differences between human and canine athletes by pitting canine competitors against a top human athlete, and highlighting the differences in their performances through a scientific lens,” A Purina Pro Plan representative told iHeartDogs. “These canine competitors are true athletes and, just like with humans, their ability to maintain endurance, strength, and speed depends on high quality nutrition.”

In the first video of the new digital content series Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Science, narrated by Trace Worthington, a two-time Olympic skiing competitor, May-Treanor and Schemer go head-to-head, competing in weave poles and jumping. It’s amazing to see the difference between a human and canine athlete.

Wanna see who wins? Watch the below video to find out!

While Schemer wins, no contest, it’s pretty incredible how athletic Misty May-Treanor is – I wouldn’t have a chance at beating my dog! It’s not all fun and games, however. These videos can help owners with canine athletes take better care of them as well.

“We believe every dog is capable of amazing things and we’re dedicated to helping dogs of all ages and activity levels excel through advanced nutrition and expert training,” the representative said.  “After working with the owners and trainers of these incredible canine athletes through the Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge, we think that understanding the physical and nutritional science behind their dog’s athletic performances is highly beneficial. Just like a human athlete, it’s important to understand the body mechanics of these canine athletes.”

Catch the rest of the series on their Youtube Channel and check out the Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge Western Regional, which begins airing nationally in syndication on July 16th.
