Mojo’s life started with unimaginable hardship. At just four months old, the tiny puppy was found in a state of severe neglect, abandoned and starving, with a painful case of scabies that left his body covered in scabs. But his fortune changed the day he crossed paths with Joey Wagner, a kind-hearted man from Baie Ste. Marie Animal Society in Nova Scotia, Canada. That encounter would turn out to be life-changing for both Mojo and Joey.
The puppy’s heartbreaking condition tugged at Joey’s heart. Mojo was in such a terrible state that his skin appeared like one large scab due to the severe infection. Joey knew he couldn’t stand by and do nothing. Acting quickly, he rushed the suffering pup to a veterinarian for urgent care.
Recalling the experience, Joey told CBC, “The look he gave me, I knew he was a fighter. So we did everything we could to help him.” This determination set Mojo on the path to recovery, though it would be a long and challenging journey.
Under the care of vets, Mojo made impressive progress, slowly regaining his strength and health. Yet, as his physical wounds began to heal, there remained another crucial step in his journey—a forever home where he could be loved and cherished.
When the time came for Mojo to meet his new family, an unexpected yet heartwarming reunion unfolded. The moment the little dog saw who had come to pick him up, his tail wagged with joy and excitement. It was Joey, the man who had saved his life, standing right there. The connection between them was undeniable, and Mojo’s response made it clear—he had never forgotten the kindness Joey showed him.
The reunion was filled with affection as the overjoyed puppy showered Joey with kisses and snuggles, showing his deep gratitude. The bond they shared was truly unbreakable, and seeing them together again was a tear-jerking moment.
The man responsible is facing felony charges but must never be allowed to own or care for animals again.
