This is probably one of the most heart-wrenchingly beautiful dog reunions ever! Lemont was on a mission to find his beloved Dog Cleo at Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales, Louisiana 10 days after his home was destroyed and his life was forever changed following Hurricane Katrina.
Lemont got a call from the people helping with the clean-up that they believed Cleo was there.
It was a desperate few moments as we went from kennel to kennel, each time hoping he dog would be there.
And then, there she was, brought to him on a leash by a rescue worker.
It takes her a minute to realize who he is…and then the kissing begins!
And then he gets an even better surprise – they have one of his other dogs, Nellie!
Out of a disaster, this man got his hope back when his family members were returned to him, alive and unharmed.
It was this event that led that to the creation of the World Animal Awareness Society, an award-winning media non-profit that was created to observe, document and produce filmed programs about contemporary human-animal interaction.
It’s hard to believe, but Katrina was almost 10 years ago. If you were one of the thousands of wonderful people who helped or if you were affected by the storm, you are invited to join the 10 year reunion Facebook Group.
