If you are like me, then the summer has you retreating to your house until the sun and the temperature goes down. This makes for one antsy puppy in my house. By the time 8:30pm rolls around, he is bouncing off the walls. If I had taken him outside when it was hot, he would immediately try to get back in side, but he still has all that pent up energy.
#1 – Chuckit NightPlay
This new line from Chuckit is pretty cool. We bought one of the small rubber balls at Petco® last week since our other toys had failed. One tip, the company told me that a black light is the best way to get a bright glow. The only downside? It doesn’t squeak.
#2 – Planet Dog “Glow for Good”
All of the Planet Dog toys are great. They stand up to a lot of chewing. The only reason I don’t have mine any more is because I threw it in the tall grass and we haven’t located it. But they last forever and glow well. Even better? 100% of the profits go to the Planet Dog Foundation.
#3 – Light-Up Stick Toy
This toy, made by Petco®, is only available during the Halloween season. I bought one last year and I received two this year. They are really cool when they are working. However, none of three have made it past a single play season. I am not sure if It is my sheltie’s bite or the impact when it hits the ground, but all three stopped lighting up after one game of fetch.
#4 – SENTRY™ Powzer Large Flashing Spinner
This ball, like the toy above, lights upon impact. Although it held up better than the stick, the problem was the hardness. My dogs like to chew and/or squeak a ball and this one was just too hard for them.
#5 – Black Jax Sports Odyssey Disc
I did not get to review this product personally, but I have known several people that have had them and said they hold up well. If they are anything like the toy above, however, my guess is a strong bite may damage them.
