For Audray, ignoring it was never an option, and she knew she had to find her before it was too late.
Days passed with no success. The situation grew more serious with every attempt. If the dog gave birth alone in the cold wilderness, her puppies would have little chance of surviving. Audray knew she could not stop trying.
She tracked the dog carefully, learning her patterns and movements. It became a quiet battle of patience and persistence. The dog did not understand she was being helped, only that she needed to stay hidden to survive.
A Mission Born From Compassion
Audray’s determination comes from years of witnessing suffering firsthand. Five years ago, she moved to an area where abandoned and neglected dogs were a heartbreaking reality. With no local shelters and little animal control, countless animals were left to fend for themselves.
What began as one person stepping in to help soon grew into something much bigger. As more people reached out, Audray officially founded Lux Rescue, turning her passion into a nonprofit dedicated to saving lives.
Today, she and her team receive around 100 messages daily. Each one tells a story of an animal in need. Many cases are severe, involving illness, neglect, or overcrowded living conditions. Without a local shelter system, Audray has become the community’s lifeline.
But her mission does not stop at rescue. She works tirelessly to promote spaying and neutering and pushes for legislative changes to prevent more animals from being abandoned in the first place.
A Life-Changing Rescue
Back in the woods, the moment finally came. After days of effort, Audray safely caught the pregnant dog. The fear in the dog’s eyes slowly softened as she realized she was no longer alone.
Soon after, the mama gave birth in a safe, warm environment. Her puppies, once at risk of never surviving, now had a chance to grow, play, and eventually find loving homes.
