Ever wondered what life would be like for a four-legged roadie? Iggy is a long haired doxie that spends his days as the number 1 roadie to Black Moth, a heavy metal band from Leeds, Great Britain. Owned by the bands singer, Harriet Bevan, Iggy is the ultimate in cute roadies – we are pretty sure The Beatles never had a roadie this cute. Bevan answered a few questions about Iggy’s life on the road.
What is a typical day like for him on tour?
Iggy loves it when I’m on tour as he gets to hang out with his cool Uncle Ozzy and Grumpy Old Grandmamma Nina, the awesome Miniature Schnauzers who belongs to my parents. They live right up in the Ilkley Moors so he gets a break from London life and has an amazing run around in the country. He’s a city boy at heart but he sure loves those moors and the fresh air. He comes home feeling like a sausage-shaped lump of fluffy muscle!
Does he get to hang backstage during performance?
We play very loud, heavy music, so I wouldn’t want to do any damage to his sensitive doggy hearing. He has been in the tour van with us though- he loved that and he managed to spend the whole journey doing worse farts than the rest of the band put together. That made him very popular.
Does he ever get to go on stage?
Actually we’ve never done that! Why on earth not? That’s a fantastic idea…. maybe at the L7 shows. He will either bark his head off and try to take on the entire crowd, or hide under the nearest low piece of furniture where no one cant get him. I’m not sure how well he will live up to his namesake! Maybe he will surprise us and come into his own up there! Who knows?!
What is his favorite treat?
He’s partial to bull’s “pizzles” and pigs ears actually. It’s incredible to see one so adorable and innocent, lovingly chewing on something quite so disgusting. What a guy.
As a roadie, does he have any special “duties” that he performs before, during or after a show?
He’s there for cuddles and snuggles when the hard work of touring gets too much! The other moths love it when we play in London as they get to stay over with me and Iggy so they get some playtime with the hound. He’s a fabulous beast 🙂
Who is his favorite band member?
Iggy’s favorite member of black moth is me (Harriet), I like to think because I am his mother, goddess and hero of his life. But most likely because I’m the provider of his dinner.
Which is his favorite song?
Tree of Woe is his favorite, as he loves sniffing around trees. He now proudly owns every one in the park. He said that he loved Looner until he saw the video and now he despises it. Balloons have been his arch enemy ever since he found out what happens when you sink your little teeth into them. Party pooper!
